RAFIKI: Shell- Yellow Embroidered Sisal Basket

Are you constantly moving bits and pieces into the ubiquitous ‘kitchen drawer of junk’? Does your desk or coffee table resemble a dumping ground of odds and ends? Us too. These hand woven baskets are the perfect solution to all manner of domestic or workplace clutter. 

We search far and wide to collaborate with the most incredible artisans in Africa, so these embroidered storage baskets combine the skills of Kenyan weavers and skilled embroiderers in an all-female campaign for empowerment and economic development. 

The weavers are taught to weave by their mothers and grandmothers, and work within a thriving Kenyan cooperative with whom we collaborate on several projects. Once upon a time these weavers would have to travel regularly to Nairobi to sell their sisal baskets, but today we bring the work to them with regular and paid basket orders.
